Local Artist (2)

£0.00

The police call came at 4:00 am. A possible burglary that turns out to be a particularly nasty murder. Sandra Deeson, the Librarian who finds the bloodied body, is deeply shaken. Then the nightmares begin. . . because what the police don't know is that this is not the first time she has found a corpse. One of Sandra's colleagues is missing.

The Police investigation starts and then stalls. There may be a clue in the painting someone left for Sandra – but the picture brings back memories she's tried to keep buried. Two unidentified bodies, thirty years apart, and the only connection is Sandra herself. Last time, it cost her dearly. This time the price may be even steeper.

This second book in the 'local' series didn't disappoint. It had me hooked from the start and I couldn't put it down. Very easy to read, good characters and nice to include people from the first book - Local Poet - albeit from a different viewpoint. Kept me guessing until the end, I really enjoyed it. Emma Gilbert

I read the first book in this series, Local Poet, some years ago and have been meaning to read the others for a while. This one certainly whetted my appetite again for Paul Trembling's books which are well written, engaging and full of intrigue. He has a way of cleverly introducing characters and events which leave the reader curious and wanting more. 'Just one more chapter' was my constant thought when I sat down with some time to read the book. Usually, it ended up being more. The plot is cleverly constructed, the characters well drawn and the settings described apparently casually but with just the right amount of detail, so you feel you are there. These are all vital aspects of a book for me and I have no hesitation in recommending Local Artist as a thoroughly good read. I do not intend to wait as long before I read the next in this fascinating series. Deborah Jenkins
